Green-Books.org

The idea of our first Eco-Education centre, formerly known as the Eco-Library, appeared in 2013 when founder Petr Hindrich surfed on the remote Indonesian island of Sumba. During his stay in the local community, Peter discovered children who grew up without access to books or information about nature. He assumed that the lack of environmental education might play a major role in the cause of pollution, waste, and other environmental problems running rampantly on the island and across Indonesia.

Peter went looking for the best children’s books in the capital Jakarta. Peter packed his backpack and brought over 50 books to Sumba.

Motivated by the positive reaction of children and the community to Šumava, Petr dreamed of how he could promote environmental education across Indonesia. Together with some like-minded friends in 2014, he founded Green-Books.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting green learning.
